Town of Patriot to remember local Vietnam veteran who made ultimate sacrifice today

(PATRIOT, Ind.) – There will be a special bridge dedication during Patriot’s Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 5.
Corporal Barry Brinegar made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Vietnam in 1971.
The Posey Township native will be remembered during a ceremony today as the bridge on State Road 156 just east of town will be renamed in his honor.
State Senator Randy Maxwell and State Representative will be on hand for the designation.
It will take place immediately following the Town of Patriot’s annual parade which is scheduled for 3 p.m.
There will also be a new mural unveiled on the side of the Masonic Building following the parade.
The Town of Patriot’s festivities will also include food trucks, live music, a water balloon fight between first responders and kids, as well as fireworks at night.
