(VEVAY, Ind.) – The Town of Vevay is nearing completion of the new fountain at the John F. Brown Park.
The original fountain was built in 1920 but after more than a century of water, weather and wear-and-tear, there was so much damage to it that the fountain had to be replaced.
“While it is difficult to say goodbye to something that has been part of our town for so long, we are grateful for the memories it has given our community over the years,” the Town of Vevay stated in May.
That historic fountain served as a gathering place and was also a backdrop to countless memories and photos.
Officials promised the town a new fountain and the Town held true to that promise.
The new fountain is now being built and new flowers and landscaping surround it as well. There are lights too!
“Brandi and Jeremy Harsin happened to stop by to check if the lights came on. They explained the other lights will be operational soon along with other finishing touches," said the Switzerland County Historical Society said last night.
The historical organization added, “Looks fantastic! Well done, Town of Vevay!”
Construction continues on the fountain that is located where Market Street meets Main Street.
