Two charged with robbery during Facebook Marketplace meetup

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) –  Two people are facing robbery charges after a Facebook Marketplace meetup in Decatur County.

Two victims drove from Gas City to a home on County Road 225 East near Milroy to purchase a gun on Friday.

Investigators say the victims then shot guns with Justin Seeley, of Rushville, and James Goodwin, of Greensburg.

One of the victims was carrying a handgun and Goodwin allegedly asked if he could shoot it.

“The victim handed the gun over to Goodwin and Goodwin then pointed a firearm at him and the victim heard gunfire and something hitting him, which caused him to believe he had been shot, but it was later determined he had not been shot,” Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose said.

Both victims ran away and did not retrieve the gun that was handed to Goodwin, police said.

“One of the victims stated he knew both Goodwin and Seeley as all four had served time together in a juvenile detention facility,” Meyerrose added.

Deputies said Goodwin and Seeley were both arrested within 12 hours of the incident.

Goodwin has been charged with Armed Robbery and Criminal Recklessness. Seeley has been charged with Conspiracy to commit Robbery.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Greensburg Police, Rushville Police, the Greensburg Fire Department and Decatur County Communications
