Two found dead during fire in Decatur County

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Two people were found dead during a structure fire in Greensburg.

The fire occurred on South County Road 1000 West near County Road 600 South at 12:30 a.m. Sunday. 

The structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters located two deceased individuals while battling the blaze. 

Identities of those who passed away have not been released. 

“The responding fire fighters did an outstanding job, getting the fire contained at approximately 2:00 am.,” Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose said. 

Fire departments that responded included the Burney, Westport, Letts Hartsville and Greensburg.

They were assisted by Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Decatur County Communications, Decatur County EMS , Decatur County Coroner's Office, Decatur County REMC, Indiana State Fire Marshals Office and the Decatur County Crisis Intervention Team.
