Sunday marks 11 months since the accident

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – Cheryl Vogelsang and Amber (Wilson) Bruser didn’t know each other prior to November 26, 2024.
But, they both received the same call that day that every parent fears the most.
Cheyrl’s son, Nathan Vogelsang, was driving a work truck and his passenger was Amber’s son, Landen Comer.
They were traveling on U.S. 421 between Osgood and Versailles when they were struck head-on and both Nathan and Landen passed away at the scene.
“Landen and Nathan shared laughter, hard work, and dreams that even death can’t separate. Their time here was far too short, but their impact was infinite,” Amber said.
24-year-old Nathan Vogelsang was a Milan graduate who performed many selfless acts during his lifetime and never sought any attention for them.
19-year-old Landen Comer was a 2023 Jac-Cen-Del graduate who served on the Holton Volunteer Fire Department. He had dreams of one day becoming a career firefighter.
Sunday marked exactly 11 months since the accident.
Earlier today, Cheryl and Amber returned to the area of the crash with their families to place memorial crosses in honor of Nathan and Landen.
“As mothers, we placed those crosses with trembling hands, but also with love that refuses to fade. Because grief, in its deepest form, is just love with nowhere to go and finding your purpose to carry on your life for them,” Amber said.
The location for the memorial crosses was chosen so that Nathan and Landen’s friends can safely visit.
Those who want to pay their respects are urged to park on West County Road 100 North and not on U.S. 421.
“We also kindly ask that you do not leave anything that can become litter out of respect to the property owners and land,” Amber added.
The memorial crosses were built by Douglas Vaughn and Iron Timbers assisted by putting their names and dates on the crosses.
“Let these crosses not be looked at as markers to a tragic day but a reminder of how fragile life can be. A reminder to love all, help all and be kind. Exactly how Nathan and Landen lived,” she added.
