(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Two members of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg are planning to attend a demonstration in Washington, D.C. on June 24.
Sister Noella Poinsette and Sister Amy Kistner say they will join hundreds of other religious women for Sisters Speak Out, where they will voice their concerns for immigrants and the economy.
“The moral voice of women religious is uniquely trusted and in a position to elevate our collective voice to uplift Gospel values, challenge destructive policies, dispel disinformation, and embody compassion and hope,” they said.
This event is hosted by Catholic Sisters, Associates, partners in mission, and faith-based organizations.
During her visit to the Capitol, Sister Noella has been asked to speak during a press conference on the issue of immigration.
"Sister Noella has spent countless hours visiting immigrants at a local detention center and is passionate about standing up for the dignity of all," the Sisters of St. Francis said.
As part of Sisters Speak Out, the Oldenburg Sisters will also hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the Motherhouse, bringing awareness to their values and the issues that are relevant.
