Two simultaneous police chases involving stolen Jeeps Friday

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – There were two police pursuits that both involved stolen Jeep Wranglers that happened simultaneously on Friday afternoon. 


Both suspects that were arrested are from the Dayton, Ohio area.


First Police Chase


The first began on I-74 between Greensburg and New Point. 


Police say they located the stolen Jeep near the 138 mile marker and the vehicle did not stop. 


The suspect nearly caused several accidents with motorists in the construction zone of I-74, and nearly caused crashes with assisting police vehicles,” stated the Greensburg Police Department. 


At one point, the suspect allegedly swerved and nearly hit a deputy that was trying to place a tire deflation device on the roadway. The deputy was not hit and was able to successfully deploy it. 


The suspect eventually pulled over into a ditch at the 136 mile marker and surrendered, police said. 


That suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Dreonne McComb. 


Second Police Chase 


During the first chase, dispatchers received reports of a second Jeep Wrangler that was reportedly stolen.


That vehicle was located traveling westbound on I-74 and later exited at the New Point exit and went on State Road 46. 


The chase came into Batesville, including onto Huntersville Road where The 812 captured a brief portion of the pursuit. 


It then went past Batesville Intermediate School and Margaret Mary Health before eventually going onto State Road 229. It later crashed on Six Pine Ranch Road near Merkel Road. 


That driver has been identified as 23-year-old Tayvion M. Hill-Ware, of Dayton, Ohio.


There have been no reports of serious injuries in either pursuit.
