Volunteers sought for food cleanup in Aurora

Officials are give update on road closures

(AURORA, Ind.) – Dearborn County EMA Director Jason Sullivan provided an update on Wednesday afternoon regarding recent flooding.
Sullivan says they are now focused on cleanup and recovery efforts.
He added that State Road 56 between Main Street and Fifth Street in Aurora will remain closed.
Sullivan also said the George Street bridge will be closed at least until Friday.
Several other roads in Aurora remain closed as well.
Anyone that would like to volunteer time with cleanup efforts in downtown Aurora is requested to meet at the Aurora City Hall fire bay located at 3rd and Main Streets.
The scheduled times are Friday April 11, Saturday April 12, and Sunday April 13 at 10AM.
“Volunteers will be required to check in and check-out at the end of each shift. Please wear appropriate work clothes, work boots and gloves. Cleaning supplies will be provided. Lunch and beverages provided,” Sullivan said.
Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you have questions concerning volunteer efforts please contact Aurora City Manager, Austin Woods at awoods@aurora.in.us.

These reports will assist in the determination if disaster relief funding will be available.
