(WESTPORT, Ind.) – A Narcan box now sits outside of Westport Wesleyan Church.
It's free to access and was created for anyone to anonymously take a Narcan kit.
“Why did we install the Narcan box? Because, as far as we know, there is currently no publicly accessible Narcan box in the South Decatur area,” said Jeffrey Moore who serves as pastor of Westport Wesleyan Church.
Moore knows that emergency responders have Narcan, but wanted to create an immediate location when every moment counts.
The Narcan box is located on the front of Westport Wesleyan Church, which is located at 407 Bennett Street. It will be supplied with Narcan beginning on May 26.
“At Westport Wesleyan, we consider it a privilege to walk with people wherever they are in life’s journey—including the messy, painful parts. We don’t believe God runs from our “junk.” On the contrary, He moves toward the brokenness in our lives with love, grace, and healing,” Moore added.
The church will also host 'Overcoming The Stigma of Recovery’ on May 25. The public is invited to attend the event which will feature a cookout, Narcan training and guest speaker Chris Ooley.
Here is a flyer for the event on May 25:
