Woman killed in Jennings County crash

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A woman was killed in a crash in rural Jennings County. 

It happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 1000 West near County Road 500 North near the Jennings and Jackson County line. 

Investigators say a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Karen Hodges went off the roadway and struck a tree. 

Hodges was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

Police say she was wearing a seatbelt and drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
