Deputies urging people to use safe driving habits

(LAUREL, Ind.) – A 69-year-old woman died in a motorcycle accident near Laurel on Saturday afternoon.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Bonnie Lapham was driving the motorcycle on State Road 121 when she approached the intersection of Old U.S. Highway 52.
That’s when a Honda CRV driven by Samantha Forschbach pulled out in front of the motorcycle, investigators said.
Lapham was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Chief Deputy Greg Mehlbauer said this marked the 29th person killed in a crash on a county road in Franklin County since 2020.
“The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department urges all motorists to speak with their loved ones about the importance of safe driving habits and remaining alert behind the wheel,” Mehlbauer said.
