(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Drivers on I-74 in Decatur County should expect lane closures beginning as early as Monday.
The Indiana Department of Transportation will begin an improvement project between the St. Paul exit and State Road 3 near Greensburg this week.
The preliminary work takes place before the start of a bridge and pavement rehabilitation.
“Pre-construction activities include shoulder strengthening work and the construction of maintenance of traffic crossovers that will be used while construction is in progress,” INDOT officials said.
Drivers can expect daytime shoulder and single lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-74 for preliminary work through early May.
The project is part of a $74 million interstate improvement contract awarded to John R. Jurgensen Company in January. It’s expected to fully be complete in late 2028.
