Wreaths Across Ripley County recognized nationally

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Ripley County Community Foundation (RCCF) is being recognized for their annual veterans wreath program. 

Local volunteers place nearly 5,000 wreaths at the graves of local veterans every holiday season. It has become the largest initiative of its kind in Indiana. 

The national Wreaths Across America has recognized Ripley County as the top sponsorship group in Indiana. 

The local program was launched by Owen Menchhofer in partnership with the Ripley County Community Foundation. 

RCCF now works with the Ripley County Historical Society to identify local veterans and their final resting places. 

Wreaths Across America Day will be held on December 19 and a ceremony will be held at the Ripley County Courthouse in Versailles. Wreaths will be placed immediately after.

The ceremony will be conducted by members of the Leora Ware American Legion Post 173 and the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary, with support provided by the Patriot Guard.
