(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Decatur County boy and his dad had a memorable day in the woods on Sunday.
11-year-old Kyson Olds and his dad went hunting near Hartsville during youth deer season.
“We went really early in the morning and it was still dark, and we went on this hillside,” Kyson recalled.
While sitting there, he spotted four deer!
Kyson aimed and shot his first ever deer.
“My dad was recocking my gun and I was like what in the world, there was another deer that popped out from behind the tree,” Kyson said.
Just moments after getting his first deer, Kyson fired and got his second one!
The gun he used belongs to his grandfather and had never gotten a deer before.

They harvested the deer and Kyson even had a steak from his deer on Sunday night.
Kyson says he loves hunting with his dad and looks forward to many more adventures in the woods.
“Another reason I like going is because it’s a good break to get away from my 8-year-old brother,” he admitted.
The 812 will be sharing deer hunting photos again this fall and you can submit entries by sending a photo, name and county of hunt to news@812now.com
