(INDIANTOWN, Fla.) – A local Indiana State Police member recently gave a presentation about the dangers that exist online for children.
Kimberly Hill is with the ISP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division and is often working to educate truckers about human trafficking.
Last month, she shared how popular kids apps like Roblox and SnapChat can serve as a gateway for predators.
A real-life example has occurred as a Nebraska man is accused of kidnapping two sisters from Indiantown, Florida.
Authorities say the suspect met the 14-year-old and 12-year-old victims on the gaming platform Roblox this past summer. The communication then went to Snapchat.
There were months of grooming and the suspect even sent food deliveries to their home, investigators added.
The suspect, a 19-year-old man named Hser Mu Lah Say, allegedly made the 1,500-mile journey from Omaha, Nebraska to Florida this weekend and abducted the sisters.
A massive search was launched and the girls were rescued after police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle in Georgia.
