3 families displaced after Connersville apartment fire early Sunday

Multiple departments responded

(CONNERSVILLE, Ind.) – Three families were displaced after an apartment fire in Connersville early Sunday morning.

Around 12 a.m., crews were dispatched to a report of a fire in the 800 block of West Western Avenue.

Firefighters say flames were coming out of an upstairs apartment window when they arrived.

They called for additional manpower as well as mutual aid from Rushville Fire and Everton Fire.

Rushville City Firefighters and Connersville Firefighters worked together to ventilate the structure and check for fire extension throughout the attic of the building. The fire damage was contained to the bedroom the fire originated in,” the Connersville Fire Department said.

The City of Connersville’s Drone was also deployed to show aerial thermal footage.

Fayette County Emergency Management and American Red Cross were called to assist with the displaced families.

“Firefighters remained on scene for approximately 4 hours removing smoke and checking for fire extension,” the department added.

The fire has been determined to be accidental and no foul play is suspected. No injuries were reported.
