Both Batesville and Oldenburg will play before the ceremony

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – An upcoming double header in Batesville will end with a special ceremony.
The baseball field at Liberty Park will be named Ace Moorman Field on Saturday, April 12.
Prior to the ceremony, Batesville will host New Palestine beginning at 11 a.m.
It will be followed with a matchup between Oldenburg and Jac-Cen-Del immediately after the first game.
Following that, a ceremony will be held that will have guest speakers including former Major League Baseball player Dyar Miller.
John ‘Ace’ Moorman was a longtime American Legion baseball coach who was a sports fixture in Southeast Indiana.
The former standout athlete was often found at sports events over the past decades. He passed away in December at the age of 89.
Batesville Parks & Recreation voted to rename the baseball field in his honor. Organizers are hoping to have the stands packed full for the ceremony.
