(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville High School is the only high school in the state to be selected as an Indiana Blue Ribbon School.
The inaugural award was given by the Indiana Department of Education. This designation was formerly part of the National Blue Ribbon Schools program by the U.S. Department of Education.
It recognizes academic excellence and celebrates schools that either achieve very high learning standards or show dramatic gains among disadvantaged student populations.
To be selected, Batesville High School had to meet rigorous criteria, demonstrating exemplary teaching, strong student outcomes, and a school culture dedicated to excellence.
“The Bulldog Ready initiative has been a catalyst for continuous improvement, from our freshman community model to our learning communities and career pathways. Our students have willingly embraced these changes, enabling us to achieve our goals. Supporting this structure is our outstanding staff, as well as our strong business and community partnerships. We are honored to have been selected for this recognition,” said BHS Principal Andy Allen.
There were only 11 schools selected for the award including St. Mary’s Catholic School in North Vernon.
