Batesville Main Street names new executive director

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville Main Street has named Rebekah Porter as their new executive director.

Porter graduated from IU with a degree in Journalism and Public Relations, and had interned with Genesis Pathways to Success in Batesville. 

She most recently served as a Prevention Specialist & Youth Educator with New Directions of Decatur County, where she supported marketing initiatives, social media management, fundraising efforts, grant support, volunteer coordination and community outreach.

In addition to her professional qualifications, Porter was selected because of her familiarity and connection with the Batesville community. 

Batesville Main Street Chairperson Blaine Timonera said Rebekah brings an exciting combination of professional experience, community connections and passion to the role.

“Her background in nonprofit fundraising, communications, marketing, event planning, and organizational development will be a tremendous asset as we continue working to strengthen downtown Batesville and support our local businesses and community partners,” said Timonera.  

She'll work closely with the Batesville Main Street Board of Directors, downtown businesses, volunteers, community organizations, residents, and local leaders to advance the organization's mission and vision for a vibrant and welcoming Main Street District. 

A Meet & Greet will be held in the Amack’s Conference Room from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25. Coffee and pastries will be provided by the organization. 

“I am excited for the opportunity to combine my nonprofit experience, communications background, and familiarity with Batesville in a position focused on strengthening the downtown community,” Porter said. “I look forward to working alongside local businesses, volunteers, residents, and community leaders while helping continue the positive momentum and growth of downtown Batesville.” 

Porter replaces Amy Lunsford who recently became the Economic Development Director for the City of Batesville under Mayor John Irrgang.
