(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville Schools ranks in the top five in-person public schools in Indiana for IREAD scores, according to the Indiana Department of Education.
Batesville Intermediate School third graders took the assessment this past spring and 98.8 percent of students demonstrated reading proficiency.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work of our 2024–25 third-grade students as well as our dedicated Pre-K to grade 3 educators and staff who worked tirelessly as a team to reach this goal,” said BCSC Superintendent Paul Ketcham.
He added, “I also want to thank our families for reinforcing literacy skills at home. The entire Bulldog community came together to make this happen, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Statewide, literacy rates among third graders rose by nearly five percentage points — the largest single-year increase on record.
