Batesville sixth grader selected for downtown mural

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville Middle School student has his artwork on his display in the downtown area.

Sixth grader Dustin Wessel was selected for the Batesville Community Education Foundation’s rotating Art on Main project.

The theme for the mural this year is ‘Weathering Emotions' and Wessel said he used a color pencil to create the design.

“I decided to go in a different direction than many of the other ideas and instead drew a model of a head. In the head, I used different weather for emotions. For example, the sun is for happiness, and the rain is for sadness,” Wessel said.

The Art on Main program spotlights artwork from the four Batesville Schools throughout the year at the intersection of George and Main Streets.

Rowland Graphics donated their time to install the mural and it is located on the side of a building owned by Nick Maple.
