Batesville ukulele club to play at Indiana State Fair

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Some ukulele players from Batesville are gearing up for two performances at the Indiana State Fair this month.
The Batesville Memorial Public Library (BMPL) Ukulele Club will play alongside The Ukulele Wonders of Indianapolis on August 7 and August 14.
They have performed at the State Fair since 2023 and play music that ranges from the 1920’s to the 2000’s.
Some locals who will be performing include Leon Enneking, Janet Stephens, Kathy Westerfeld, Nonnie Gross and Steve Kristoff.
The show will take place in the Opry Barn Stage in the Pioneer Village from 1-4 p.m. on August 7 and 14.
Mike Kruse is the former song leader for Batesville and is the current song leader for The Ukulele Wonders.
He said there will be 15-20 ukulele players on the stage during the shows, and there will be more Batesville people performing on August 7.
Interested in playing the ukulele? The BMPL Ukulele Club meets at the Batesville library at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month. It is open to anyone who would like to attend.
