(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Batesville Community Education Foundation has a new board member.
Dr. Michelle Shorten is a primary care physician with St. Elizabeth Physicians. She lives in Bateville with her husband and son, Garrett, who is a sixth grader at Batesville Middle School.
“When we were choosing where to live after residency, the public school system in Batesville was a major factor in our final decision,” Dr. Shorten said. “I’ve learned to appreciate the role that BCEF plays in providing opportunities to our students, and I’m excited to see how I might be able to help.”
Shorten will serve a three-year term on the board of directors for BCEF.
The Batesville Community Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides additional funding for innovative learning opportunities that go beyond the basics in academics, athletics, and the arts in the Batesville public schools.
