Beech Grove officer killed, local agencies send condolences

(BEECH GROVE, Ind.) – A Beech Grove police officer was killed in the line of duty on Monday night.
33-year-old Brian Elliott was one of two officers who were shot after responding to a call near Beech Grove High School.
The Beech Grove police chief announced late Monday that Elliott has succumbed to his injuries. The other officer is in stable condition and expected to survive.
“My heart goes out to Brian’s wife, Erin, his parents, and all of his family, friends, and loved ones. At this time, I am asking that we lean on one another to get through this,” said Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice.
Several local police departments are reacting to this horrific incident and sharing messages of support.
The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department stated, “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers going out to the Beech Grove Police Department, family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time.”
Lawrenceburg, Greendale, Jennings County and Bartholomew County are among the many agencies statewide who are offering their condolences.
Police announced at 10:37 p.m. Monday that the manhunt for the suspect has come to an end. More details are expected soon.
