BMX racer Carly Kane launches Go Fund Me for neighbor

"He is a stranger to anyone reading this, but hope you can help"

(ST. LEON, Ind.) – An East Central grad and pro BMX racer has launched a fundraiser for her neighbor who has suffered a serious medical emergency.

Carly Kane and her fiance live next to a disabled elderly man in Miamitown, Ohio.

While Carly was out-of-town at a BMX race, she got a call from the neighbor who said he had collapsed and needed immediate assistance.

Kane then called for help and the man was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital.

“A couple of days later, we received a phone call from the hospital, informing us that we were listed as Stephen’s emergency contact, and that he had flatlined during an attempted surgery,” Carly said. "Thanks be to God, he pulled through and is currently awaiting another surgery attempt."

Carly and her fiance had no idea that the man had no family and nobody else to contact for help.

She has been making an effort to visit him in the hospital and has also created a Go Fund Me, hoping people in Southeast Indiana are willing to help a complete stranger.

“I know that he works part time at a restaurant as a cook, but is unable to do much else because he isn’t very mobile,” she said.

“His name is Stephen Kenyon and I know Stephen he is a stranger to anyone reading this, but if you have it in your heart to help us raise some money for this man, I know it will mean the absolute world to him,” Kane added.
