Brookville Elementary hosts annual PTO Walk-A-Thon

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – Brookville Elementary students had the opportunity to leave the classroom for some exercise and fun on Friday.

The school’s PTO is called ‘Hounds Pack’ and they have been hosting their annual Walk-A-Thon fundraiser for the past month.

The fundraiser encourages students to bring in spare change for special prizes and those funds go toward classroom improvements and other programs.

It all led up to the Walk-A-Thon event where students in grades 1-5 walked or ran around the high school track. Each student also got a popsicle.

Hounds Pack co-president Shelley Kopp said this year’s funds will go toward a transportable PA system and more indoor recess activities for each grade level at Brookville Elementary.

Funds also go toward field trips, in-school plays, and teacher allowances for school supplies.

They’ve purchased an indoor rock wall and a Gaga pit over the past two years.

“We really enjoy seeing the kids benefit from these initiatives and it’s a lot of fun to see the smiles that we see from them,” said Hounds Pack co-president Chelsea Wewe.

School Superintendent Dustin Gehring and members of the Brookville Fire Department also came out to the event today.
