Civics Literacy Lab in Batesville on April 15

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Ripley County Democrats will host a free Civics Literacy Lab in Batesville in April.

Organizers say the interactive, nonpartisan workshop will cover topics such as understanding voter eligibility, when elections take place, who's on the ballot, the role of different elected officials, an overview of new laws and how to take civic action locally.

It's presented by MADVoters and will take place at the Batesville Memorial Public Library from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. A complimentary meal will be provided.

"We believe that a stronger community starts with informed citizens," says Daniel Raftery, Vice Chair of the Ripley County Democrats. "This isn't about telling people how to vote; it’s about ensuring everyone has the knowledge and confidence to participate in the democratic process."

Organizers added, "While the event is being held at the Batesville Public Library, the library is providing the space as a community service and is not associated with or sponsoring the event.
