(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congress voted to reopen the federal government Wednesday night after the record-long 42 day shutdown.
Congresswoman Erin Houchin (R-District 9) was among those that voted in favor of the Senate’s Continuing Resolution to fund the government.
“Tonight, thanks to Republicans in Congress, the Continuing Resolution to fund the government through January 30 is headed to President Trump’s desk. This agreement also includes three, year-long appropriations bills that fully fund Agriculture, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and the Legislative Branch.
The measure passed 222-209 and will now head to the White House where President Trump is expected to sign it later tonight.
Rep. Houchin is blaming the other side of the aisle for the shutdown.
“It was only one political party that inflicted harm across our country. The American people know the Democrats used them as leverage in a failed attempt to keep lining the pockets of insurance companies,” she said.
She added that she came to Washington to fight for Indiana, not for politics.
