Crews fight house fire, high winds in Greendale

(GREENDALE, Ind.) – Crews are battling a house fire and high winds in Greendale on Sunday afternoon. 

The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue.

Firefighting efforts are being impacted by at least two electrical wires that are down which have burnt through water hoses. 

The electric has been shut off at the meter as firefighters remain on scene. 

Agencies involved include Greendale, Lawrenceburg, Miller-York, Bright , Aurora, Miami Township and Whitewater Township.

Ridge Avenue between Broadway and Brown streets is closed until further notice.

"The heavy wind gusts are no help and this is an extremely dangerous situation," the Greendale Police Department stated.

A High Wind Advisory is in effect with wind gusts up to 60 miles-per-hour possible throughout the day. There are also severe storms possible tonight. Read here.
