(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital is making a donation that can keep local football players safe.
They donated a protective helmet cover called ‘Guardian Caps’ to the South Decatur football team.
Guardian Caps are soft-shell attachments for football helmets that can reduce impact forces by up to 33 percent, according to DCMH.
These caps are already in use by over 5,000 high schools, 500 colleges, and all 32 NFL teams.
“This is a meaningful investment in our youth,” said Rex McKinney, President and CEO of DCMH. “We’re proud to support South Decatur’s football program and its focus on performance and protection. These athletes represent the future of our community, and we’re committed to ensuring they can succeed in a safe, supportive environment.”
In addition to the donation of Guardian Caps, SDHS has been working to create a well-rounded experience for its athletes, emphasizing injury prevention, health education, and overall wellness.
The Guardian Caps will be integrated into practices, game prep, and games to align with best practices for player safety.
