(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A unique blood drive took place at Decatur County Memorial Hospital last week.
Battle of the Badges encouraged community members to donate blood in honor of a first responder agency.
This event was made possible through the collaborative effort of the Decatur County Health Department, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, and Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
There were 34 good units of blood collected which is enough to help save up to 102 people.
Each donor selected an agency they support and the first place finisher was the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, followed by the Decatur County Health Department and Decatur County EMS.
The Decatur County Volunteer Firefighters, Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Letts Community EMS/Fire, Indiana State Police, and local Town Marshals also received votes.
“We’re grateful for the chance to support our first responders and help our community come together to make a real difference,” said Matt Myers, Decatur County EMS Manager at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
