(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Commissioners have approved a one-year moratorium on commercial solar projects.
The commissioners accepted the recommendation that was made by the Dearborn County Planning Commission during a public hearing last night.
The moratorium also includes battery storage facilities as well as any processing of variance of use applications for construction of data centers.
It comes after community backlash to a proposed commercial-scale solar project in Manchester which would cover approximately 1,000 acres of farm ground along Benning and Weisberg Roads.
The project required approval from the two different county boards.
The moratorium is not to exceed more than one year after tomorrow.
