(SUNMAN, Ind.) – A town hall organized by opponents of a solar farm development in Dearborn County will be held Thursday night.
The proposed commercial-scale solar project in Manchester would cover approximately 1,000 acres of farm ground along Benning and Weisberg Roads.
The Linea Energy project is planned, however, requires approval from two different county boards.
The town hall meeting will be take place at the Sunman American Legion at 6 p.m. Thursday.
“We will review the moratorium process, discuss updates, and open the floor for discussion/questions,” organizers said.
There are also additional meetings being planned for this month.
Linea Energy is expected to hold their own town hall meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17. It will take place at Agner Hall at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds in Lawrenceburg.
On February 23, the Dearborn County Planning Commission is expected to address whether an ordinance should be adopted to implement a moratorium on solar development applications.
That meeting has been moved to South Dearborn High School in anticipation of a large crowd. It will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 23.
The County Commissioners would then consider the recommendation made by the Planning Commission the following day. That meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24. It will be held at the Dearborn County Government Center.
