(BRIGHT, Ind.) – A young girl from Bright recently had a major accomplishment in Florida.
9-year-old Luna Debruler competed in the AAU Karate Nationals in Fort Lauderdale.
She was in the Kumite (Light Class) and competed in the intermediate and advanced division.
DeBruler finished on top and won a Gold Medal and was named National Champion for her division.
It’s not her first gold medal as she won the 8-year-old Kobudo division in 2024.
Her karate journey began in 2020 when she was just 4-years-old and she isn’t just in it for competition.
“She doesn’t get too concerned about whether she gets a medal or not. What she enjoys most is just spending time with her friends that she has met from around the country,” her father, Brian said.
Luna is the daughter of Brian and Michelle Debruler.
