Death investigation underway at Shelbyville plant

(SHELBYVILLE, Ind.) – A death investigation is underway at a Shelbyville factory. 

Officials were called to Ryobi Die Casting on Industrial Park Drive for a report of a death on Friday. 

According to the Shelby County Coroner’s Office, there is currently limited information available about the incident. 

“The cause and manner of death will be released at a later date. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin,” said Shelby County Coroner Bradley Rund. 

Officials did add that it may take some time to identify the individual, as some equipment in the plant needs to be cooled down before it can be examined.

Numerous agencies have been involved in the investigation including the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Shelbyville Fire Department, the Shelbyville Police Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal.
