Decatur Co. Democrats call for data center transparency

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County Democratic Central Committee is calling for greater transparency regarding the data center discussions occurring in the Greensburg area.

“Recent discussions have generated significant public interest but have also left many residents with more questions than answers,” said Chairman John Pratt.

The committee is calling on the City of Greensburg to “publicly clarify” the status of the data center project, by explaining the expected impact on the community and the ongoing process.

“We also encourage Decatur County officials to adopt a temporary moratorium on new hyperscale data center development in the unincorporated areas of the county while the Comprehensive Plan is being updated,” Pratt said.

He said, “A temporary pause would allow county leaders and residents to carefully evaluate the potential impacts on infrastructure, utilities, land use, public services, and long-term community growth before additional projects are considered.”

The committee added that they are not opposed to economic development but are rather calling for "thoughtful planning and transparent government.”
