(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department is praising a jailer who helped stop contraband from entering the facility.
Investigators say two inmates attempted to get the jailer to bring marijuana into the jail.
The jailer immediately reported the incident to his supervisor.
Brandon Gay and Robert Phillips are inmates who were both charged due to the alleged attempt.
Police also arrested 18-year-old David Shrout, of Osgood, who allegedly was going to meet with the jailer to provide the marijuana.
Police say evidence in Shrout’s vehicle was consistent with what the inmates were hoping to bring in the jail.
Shrout was charged with Trafficking with an Inmate, Dealing Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana.
