Decatur Co. REMC awards $26K to 12 organizations

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County REMC Community Trust is awarding $25,998 to 12 local organizations through Operation Round Up. 

Operation Round Up is a member-funded program that supports nonprofits and organizations that serve the Decatur County REMC area. It’s made possible by members rounding their electric bill up to the next whole dollar.

This grant cycle included additional funding made available through Hoosier Energy’s initiative to secure future power supply from the restart of the Palisades Nuclear Generating Station.

Here are the recipients:

• Wreaths Across Ripley County - $1,000 to fund wreaths for veteran’s graves

  
  

• Greensburg Bread of Life - $2,000 toward a field sponsorship for the Feeding the Flock fundraiser

  
  

• Batesville Food Pantry - $2,000 toward the purchase of food and basic personal items for the pantry 

  
  

• All for One Ministry - $2,603.58 toward funding the expansion of the Generation Hope program

  
  

• New Point Volunteer Fire Department - $1,800 to purchase an electric vehicle immobilizer

  
  

• Ripley County So Loved Foster Closet - $2,000 to purchase items for children in need 

  
  

• North Decatur Elementary - $1,667.12 toward funding the Robotics program at the school

  
  

• Batesville Music Boosters - $1,500 toward expenses to host a judged marching band invitational

  
  

• Ripley County Emergency Management Agency - $3,500 toward funding to support an antennae project 

  
  

• SMAFA (St Mary’s Alumni Friends Association) - $2,500 toward funding the purchase of school desks and chairs

  
  

• St Mary’s Greensburg - $4,000 toward funding electronic equipment to install on the school doors so they can be locked for safety

  
  

• Covenant Resources Miscarriage Ministry - $1,427.70 toward materials needed to make this resource more visible in the community

Since its launch in 1999, Operation Round Up has awarded 387 grants totaling more than $695,000.
