(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg native Kyle Moeller has been using his time in the woods for more than just hunting this fall.
He’s Catholic and has spent time in the tree stand saying the Rosary and praying for others.
He had been tracking a massive buck and on Sunday decided to pray for the deer as well.
“Around 5:30 p.m., I began having a ringing in my left ear and have always heard that when your ear starts ringing, in the spiritual sense it means God is near,” Moeller said
He looked up a moment later and saw the buck running toward him.
“Every other deer I’ve ever shot I’ve been a nervous wreck, but this time I just felt like a calming presence over me, it was certainly a different feeling,” Moeller explained.
He harvested the buck and it received a green score of 218 by an official scorer.
With everything that happened throughout the day leading up to that moment, he felt that there was divine intervention and not just a coincidence.
“It’s important for me to share the full story as I feel God was with me there, and perhaps this could reach someone who has been on the fence about their faith,” he added.
This isn’t the first large buck to be harvested in Decatur County.
In 2021, Dustin Huff captured a 12-pointer that was measured as the second-largest typical whitetail of all time.
Here are some more photos that Moeller shared:
