(DILLSBORO, Ind.) – Dillsboro Elementary is receiving a $1,000 grant to help the school address student food insecurity and the need for basic hygiene and clothing.
The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF) provided the donation as part of their annual initiative where each board member selects a recipient for a grant.
DCF board member Casey Finnegan is a former Dillsboro student who recognized that some students could use a helping hand. He selected the school for the donation.
“The school has a need to help children with basic hygiene care kits, different articles of clothing, meal supplements, and other needs. I want this grant to help the students worry less about these needs and focus more on the learning aspects of school,” Finnegan said.
The grant will help supplement other programs that are in place to help fulfill student needs.
Finnegan added that Dillsboro school’s faculty always puts the needs of students before anything else.
“I admire the dedication and hard work that the faculty at Dillsboro displays on a daily basis and I wanted to help them address student needs,” he said.
