DNR officers arrest person for dancing with turtle, meth possession

(CORYDON, Ind.) – Indiana Conservation Officers are sharing how you can protect box turtles after an incident in Harrison County.
DNR officers arrested a person who allegedly was dancing in the road while carrying a box turtle.
The person was also in possession of methamphetamine, officers said.
“The turtle was released unharmed near the area from which it was removed,” they said.
Eastern Box turtles are long-lived, slow to mature and have few offspring per year, and may not be collected from the wild.
They are a special concern in Indiana due to the high mortality rate of them getting his on roads.
