Firefighters were on scene for nearly four hours

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – Four volunteer fire departments worked a house fire in Osgood on Tuesday night.
Crews were dispatched around 9:40 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of State Road 350.
The homeowners told firefighters that they could smell smoke but couldn’t see anything.
Firefighters went through the home investigating a potential cause.
“When firefighters pulled the ceiling and walls in the hallway the fire was discovered burning under the insulation,” said Osgood Fire Chief Kyle Negangard.
He added that the fire had been burning in the walls and ceiling for quite some time before it was discovered.
The Osgood Fire Department was assisted by Delaware Fire, Napoleon Fire and Letts Fire. Firefighters were on the scene until 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
"Every effort was made to minimize the damage to the home," Negangard added.
Other agencies on scene included Ripley County EMS, Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Ripley County Dispatch and Duke Energy.
