(FRISCO, TX.) – A former Batesville soccer player has been recalled by his home nation’s team!
Nico Montoya joined the Colombia U-19 National Team on Monday for their two-week training camp ahead of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in the Dominican Republic.
Montoya played for Batesville High School before joining the FC Dallas Academy in 2021.
The goalkeeper has played professionally with North Texas FC and was previously called up by the team in May.
In 2024, he represented the U.S. where he earned a United States U-17 callup in 2024.
Nico was born in Colombia and immigrated to America with his mother, Bibiana, when she married Batesville native Dave Hooten.
They lived in Batesville for several years before getting the opportunity to pursue his soccer dreams with the FC Dallas Academy.
