(AURORA, Ind.) – A former Dearborn County police officer is receiving a donation from fellow first responders and town officials.
David Funch had been battling cancer but recently discovered he is cancer-free.
The Aurora Fire Department, Aurora EMS and Aurora City Council members surprised Funch with a $2,000 donation on Monday night.
Fire Chief Jeff Lane said the money was raised during the Aurora First Responders Chicken Fry last month.
The money was gifted to assist Funch with the ongoing medical bills.
Funch has served both on the Aurora Police Department as well as the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office.
