(GUILFORD, Ind.) – A local family is honoring the legacy of their young son by helping children receive life-saving skills.
2-year-old Chase Brayton passed away after a drowning incident in 2020.
His parents, Lauren and Luke Brayton, created a nonprofit foundation called Running Free with Chase.
Their mission is to spread awareness about water safety and the self-rescuing skills needed while children are in the water.
Earlier this year, the foundation provided scholarships for 17 children to participate in a 5-week survival swim lesson through Tri-State Survival Swim.
The family has also helped children as young as 6-months-old receive swimming lessons and they have also partnered with the YMCA.
Lauren and Luke remain committed to turning a tragic event into an opportunity to help families across Southeast Indiana.
On October 11, they will host their annual Craft/Vendor Fair next month at Dearborn Hills Church. The church is located at 25365 State Line Road in Lawrenceburg.
The fair will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that Saturday and it serves as an opportunity to support the foundation.
