(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – There will be a free ATV Safety Course to educate young riders this month.
It will be held at the Decatur County Health Department in Greensburg from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, June 23.
The course is designed for riders who are 8 or older and will cover topics such as protective gear, trail etiquette, emergency response, and state regulations.
It will be taught by DNR instructors who will also share the importance of wearing helmets, understanding vehicle limitations, and respecting the environment.

There have already been a few ATV accidents in our area this year and the hands-on course is being conducted to mitigate future crashes.
“Our goal is to reduce injuries and save lives by equipping riders with the knowledge and skills they need to operate ATVs safely,” said Amanda Bates, Public Health Preparedness Coordinator with the Decatur County Health Department. “Partnering with IDNR gives us access to certified instructors and comprehensive safety resources.”
Registration is required to attend. Parents or guardians must accompany riders who are under 18.
All participants will receive a certificate of completion and a free helmet, gloves and goggles, courtesy of the Decatur County Health Department.
