(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A fundraiser is underway to find a new home for the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter.
It comes just days after the facility was evacuated due to flood concerns.
“The current facility sits in a flood plain, and in just the past year alone the entire shelter has had to evacuate twice due to flooding. Each time, staff and volunteers have had to scramble to move every animal to safety,” organizers of the fundraiser said.
The fundraiser calls for a facility to be built at a new location in the community.
“This project is about more than a building. It’s about ensuring that every abandoned, lost, or rescued animal has a safe place to go, no matter the weather or circumstances,” organizers added.
