Gov. approves execution of man who killed 2 kids

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana Governor Mike Braun has approved the execution of a death row inmate.
Jeffrey Weisheit was convicted of setting fire to his girlfriend's house in Evansville in 2010 which claimed the lives of two children, 8-year-old Alyssa and 5-year-old Caleb Lynch.
The kids were found gagged and tied up inside the house.
Weisheit was sentenced to death in 2013 and is scheduled to be executed on Thursday.
“I am accepting the Parole Board’s unanimous recommendation to deny clemency for Jeffrey Weisheit. The Indiana Department of Correction will continue preparations to carry out the court-ordered sentence of execution on November 5, 2026,” said Gov. Mike Braun.
The governor’s ruling comes after Weisheit’s attorneys urged the parole board to not go through with the execution, citing his mental health, his religious conversion and a letter from the murdered children’s father who called for life without parole.
The mother of the two children urged the parole board to go through with the execution.
