Gov. Braun reacts to Givaudan's West Harrison location

(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) – Indiana Governor Mike Braun is reacting to the announcement of Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing building a production facility in West Harrison.

The Swiss company is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, and cosmetic ingredients. 

They will invest $215 million to build a state-of-the-art liquids production facility near the Indiana-Ohio border. It’s expected to create more than 250 jobs by 2031. 

“Today is a great day for West Harrison and the state of Indiana as we welcome another agribusiness leader to the Hoosier state,” said Governor Mike Braun. 

Givaudan had previously purchased a location in Reading, Ohio, but abandoned the project due to remediation concerns at that site.

The decision to build in West Harrison came after a strategic evaluation of Givaudan’s operational footprint to meet regional demands.

“This new facility represents a major boost to our Taste & Wellbeing operational network. By expanding our regional footprint, we are significantly enhancing our liquid production capacity and accelerating speed-to-market,” said  Taste & Wellbeing Head of Operations Cedric Koller.

Givaudan adds to Indiana's robust agbioscience industry that contributes approximately $82.3 billion to the state’s economy.

Indiana also ranks among the top 10 states for agricultural products sold, exporting $4.6 billion goods each year.

“Givaudan joins a strong agbioscience sector that is powering innovation, creating high-wage jobs and delivering essential products to customers around the world. We look forward to Givaudan joining the Indiana ecosystem and to the more than 250 good-paying jobs they will create in the southeast region,” Gov. Braun said. 

Construction is expected to begin in 2026 with partial operations to begin in 2028.

Givaudan has 167 locations worldwide, including 77 production sites and more than 17,500 employees.
