(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The City of Greensburg celebrates the Next Level Trails extension on Wednesday.

Greensburg’s Eastside Trail concept expands from Rebekah Park to the Greensburg Public Library.

The Eastside Connection Trail concept began over a decade ago with the goal of enhancing connectivity throughout the Greensburg community.

For nearly three years, the extension from Rebekah Park to the library has been underway.

Plans were set in motion when the Community Foundation provided Lilly Endowment money to begin design work. The $417,818 grant from Next Level Trails along with many other partners made this project possible.

On July 16, the project reached completion and was officially unveiled with a ribbon cutting ceremony today.

This extension completes the connection from the library to the Pirate Park multi use sports complex and Rebekah Park, which features amenities such as the inclusion park, splash pad, and amphitheater. The trail continues into the school campus and connects to the east side of the community.

This quality of life project enhances lives in the community by providing pedestrians with easy, walkable access throughout the city.

Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh said, “Even though it is a tiny segment, it has a big impact.”

Future additions for the Eastside Trail project include a story walk on the new extension and plans to continue the trail into downtown Greensburg.
